Located on the northwestern border of the Market West Neighborhood at 16th and Howard Street, and just three blocks west of Omaha’s Old Market shopping and entertainment district, stands the iconic Aquila Court building, home to Omaha’s first upscale boutique hotel, the Magnolia Hotel Omaha.

IMG_0875-200x300.jpgThe Magnolia Hotel Omaha’s stunning design is reminiscent of the building’s 1920s Italian heritage. The hotel was built in 1923 by Chicago financier Chester Cook, and named the Aquila Court building to honor Chester’s grandmother. The faces of George and Aquila Cook are on the front of the building, which is constructed of Bedford limestone. Upon entry, the beautiful lobby reflects Italian architecture in the original marble floor, travertine walls, Roman columns, and elegant vaulted ceiling. The building design was based on the Bargello, a palace in Florence, Italy, which contained a peaceful courtyard. The Bargello is now a museum that contains early Italian sculpture.

The hotel boasts 32-inch flat screen TV’s with HD programming in all guest rooms as well as both wired and wireless complimentary internet service. With 22 suites and a spacious 1,200 square-foot presidential suite, as well as a gorgeous outdoor courtyard, it has established itself as the leader in the wedding market in Omaha.
